History:

15 Minutes of Shame was initially aired in Sydney July 21st 2004 by the collective System:Corrupt, of which this GOD Rekidz founder was a “card-carrying member”. The concept of the “15 minutes”has a rich history of Shame attached, from the rise of the 20th Century Celebrity to Murdering prostitutes to hurting yourself on camera. It’s a slippery slope we offer.

Aims:

15 Minutes of Shame is to be an alcohol fueled, restricted ages, live electronic music performance event to be held in Auckland City. The purpose of this event is to contribute to a culture of spontaneous electronic music performance and to also edutain local musicians and those interested in live digital music performance.

The first aim of 15 Minutes of Shame is to promote New Zealands independent composers and musicians. It is an open entry event that will showcase literally dozens of unknown and unsigned New Zealand musicians, who will play 15 minute sets in quick succession. The format of the event is unique: artists will sign up on the night and perform their original material to a live audience of drunk people.

Our second aim in relation to 15 Minutes of Shame is to create a community focus in the inner city Auckland area to increase citizen participation in digitally produced music. We intend to propagate awareness of unknown and unsigned artists and cultivate stronger links between local artists and the community they reside in. 15 Minutes of Shame represents a point of convergence for musicians who may not have been aware of or associated with blah blah fluffing blah. The event also represents a forum for creative exchange and open dialogue where artists and audience alike will be able to see and get drunk to new forms of creative etc etc etc.. wank.

Format:

The 15 minutes set format will leave you either wanting more from any particular artist, or grateful they only played for 15 minutes. basically you’ve got 15 minutes to put you money where your mouth is and then get off the stage !!!!

Through-out the evenings entertainment we will ask the audience to vote for their favourite artists. Votes can be delivered in person in the voting booth (of shame) or texted to our international call centre where our trained operators will be standing by ready to recieve and relay your valuable decision. The appropriate number will be made available on the night.

This format offers all those who attend the chance to not only benefit from the evenings presentation, but also have the chance to perform, interact, discuss and get feedback drawing from the vast knowledge and experience of the numerous musicians. This performance is very much a dialogue of between all those who attend. Are you still reading this ?

It is also for those who wish to observe without performing, creating a great opportunity to gain an insight into various ideas and approaches to live drinking and performance. All are welcome to attend, observe, buy alcohol, and interact.

At the conclusion of the 15 minute performances the audience votes will be tallied and given to the Celebrity Guest Judge, System Corrupt’s TOECUTTER, where upon the finalist will be announced.

The top 3 placings judged by the Audience and sanctioned by TOECUTTER will be have been judged based on compositional arrangement, structure, lyrical content (if applicable), quality of recording and overall technical skill in production and sound design.

These 3 Champions will go onto to the Bonus Round.
And literally fight to the death, no,,, to the pain, for ultimate supremacy,, and prizes !!!!!!
